THE HUNT IS ON.

I loved this. Playing out on the page like the very best of old school horror movies, The Wild Girls is a twisty, creepy and addictive thriller with a really excellent setting.

We have a group of friends who fell apart after one emotional night years ago. Now invited to Botswana to celebrate the birthday of one of their number, the hope is to put it all behind them. But, well, things are not going to go according to plan.

Phoebe Morgan creates an intriguing and layered group dynamic between these friends, all of whom are now in life various circumstances. The setting really pops – portrayed as beautiful isolation giving the sense of a locked room mystery – you really sink into it, feeling the heat and the panic.

The plotting is clever, taut and authentic, the ending brilliantly done and overall this was a most excellent read.

Recommended.
