Robin Williams….

I’m not that good with words. I’ve seen a lot of heartfelt messages today. I don’t know what to say. So I give you this.

 

              “We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, “O me! O life!… of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless… of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?” Answer: that you are here; that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?”

 

 

                “Gooooood morning, Vietnam! It’s 0600 hours.”

 

  “My first day as a woman and I’m getting hot flashes.”

 

 

“I’ve seen things you’ve only seen in your nightmares. Things you can’t even imagine. Things you can’t even see. There are things that hunt you in the night. Then something screams. Then you hear them eating, and you hope to God that you’re not dessert. Afraid? You don’t even know what afraid is.”

 

“You’ll have bad times, but it’ll always wake you up to the good stuff you weren’t paying attention to.”

 

  “What do you want to be in the world? I mean the whole world. What do you want to be? Close your eyes and think about that.” 

 

 

 

 

“So what now, huh? What do you want from me? Yea, I could do it. We both know you wouldn’t stop me. So answer me, please. Tell me what you’re doing. Okay, let’s look at the logic. You create man. Man suffers enormous amounts of pain. Man dies. Maybe you should have had just a few more brainstorming sessions prior to creation. You rested on the seventh day, maybe you should have spent that day on compassion.”
