Latest Reads: Soul Keeper David Dalglish.

The magic has returned . . . and so have the monsters.

Devin Eveson is a Soulkeeper, traveling through remote villages as a priest and healer. But when a mysterious black water washes over the world, the veil is torn, flooding the land with ancient magic and forgotten races. And not all the creatures that have reawakened remember humanity fondly.

As the land grows increasingly dangerous and chaotic, Soulkeepers are turning up dead. Devin must set aside his words of peace and accept his new role: slayer of monsters and protector of the human race.

Soul Keeper is a monster slayer of a novel (yes I know) – fast paced and beautifully imagined with an extremely engaging hero in Devlin and enough magical mayhem to shake a stick at. Although a stick may not fend off whatever is attacking you…

David Dalglish writes in a fully immersive style with some brilliant world building around all the action and a hugely cool underlying humour. His imaginative monsters make me worry a little for his sanity but are massively entertaining.

This novel fairly rocks along with an excellent adventurous plot, a diverse and eclectic set of characters and is a page turner of a tale that flies by in what seems like an instant. Loved it. Can’t wait for book 2.
